Seeds Family Worship Challenge

by seeds on April 11, 2011

Hey everyone….

Thanks to all of you that were a part of the Seeds Family Worship launch at Lighthouse.  We had a blessed night.  It was so much fun to see the kids dancing in the aisle as we worshiped the Lord together through music….and parents and grandparents doing all of the hand motions as we sang the Word of God together.

I also got a lot of comments about the funny you tube videos.  It is important that we laugh at ourselves, and with each other as we climb the mountain together of raising children to seek after the Lord with all of their hearts.

Well, that being said…here is the Family Worship Challenge:

Turn off (or completely ignore) your phone….and your computer….and don’t turn on your TV until you have spent at least 15 minutes engaging with your children. Give them your best attention…get down on their level (whatever ever that may be…even if they are taller than you), and look them in the eye.  Express your love for them by giving them one of your most precious gifts…the gift of your time and attention.

I will warn you, the first five minutes will be the hardest…we want to let down and “veg out” after a long day….but, truly, the greatest calling that you have is waiting for you as you walk in the door at the end of the day…or if you are a stay-at-home Mom, there are always so many things on your “to-do” list that you feel like you can’t afford to put it all on hold and focus on your child.

But I encourage you to block out the distractions and ask your son or daughter what their “high/low” was for the day.  Just a brief report of their day….it will give you a window into their world and you will be amazed that if you begin to make a habit of it, the Lord will bless you with some neat conversations with your young ones.

Deuteronomy 6:7 – Remember that last verse from one of our memory verses for the month….”You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit at your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Have a great week!!!

Virtually all of whatever you articulate is supprisingly precise and that makes me wonder the reason why I had not looked at this with this light before. This particular piece really did turn the light on for me as far as this specific issue goes. However at this time there is actually one particular factor I am not really too comfortable with and while I attempt to reconcile that with the actual main idea of the issue, allow me see just what all the rest of the subscribers have to say.Nicely done.
